Reptory Privacy Policy
- Effective date: October 28, 2026
- Operator: RubyPearl Lab (“we”, “the operator”)
- Contact: contact@rubypearllab.com
Reptory (“the app”) helps you keep care records and reminders for reptiles and amphibians. This policy explains what information the app handles, where it is kept, and how it is used. A Korean version is also available; if the two differ, the Korean version prevails for users in Korea.
1. Summary
- The app has no accounts or sign-in, and we run no servers.
- The records and photos you enter are stored only on your phone. We never receive or see them.
- The app is free and shows Google AdMob banner ads. To serve ads, Google processes some information such as advertising identifiers (section 4).
- Backup files and CSV (spreadsheet) exports go only where you choose to send them.
2. Information stored on your phone
The following is entered or chosen by you and stored only in the app’s private storage on your phone. It is not sent to us.
| Item | What it includes | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Care records | Animals (name, species, sex, status, etc.), enclosures and equipment, feeding / weight / temperature and humidity / shedding / health records, schedules, custom species and foods | Viewing records, graphs, to-do and overdue calculations |
| Photos | Photos you take or pick (a copy resized to at most 1600 px on the long edge) | Animal albums, record photos |
| App settings | Language, units, theme, reminder times, last backup date, ad consent status, etc. | Running the app |
- The app has no feature that sends this information to us or anywhere else.
- Your original photos are never changed or deleted. The app keeps only a copy of the photos you pick in its own storage.
3. Phone permissions
The app asks for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it. If you decline, the rest of the app still works. You can change permissions at any time in your phone’s settings.
| Permission | Required? | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Optional | Taking photos of your animals |
| Photos (photo picker) | Optional | Choosing photos from your library. The phone’s photo picker passes only the photos you select to the app (some phones or OS versions may ask for photo access) |
| Notifications | Optional | Reminders for feeding, cleaning and other schedules, the overdue summary, and backup reminders. Reminders are scheduled on your phone; there are no server push notifications |
| App Tracking Transparency (iPhone only) | Optional | Asks whether the advertising identifier (IDFA) may be used for personalized ads (section 4) |
The app also uses standard permissions it needs to work (internet access for ads, rescheduling reminders after the phone restarts, etc.). The app does not use your location, contacts or microphone.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows banner ads through Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. We do not receive or store the information below; Google processes it under its own policies.
- Information Google processes: advertising identifiers (Android advertising ID; on iPhone, IDFA only if you allow tracking), device identifiers such as the app set ID, IP address (which may be used to estimate approximate location), app usage such as ad views and taps, and app/SDK performance diagnostics
- Purposes: showing ads and personalized ads, measuring ad performance, preventing fraud such as invalid clicks
- Transfer: sent to Google over encrypted (TLS) connections
- Consent: where the law requires consent (such as the EEA and the UK), the app asks for consent to personalized ads on first launch using Google’s consent tool (UMP). On iPhone, Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt follows. You can use every feature of the app without consenting; you may then see non-personalized ads.
How to turn off personalized ads
- In the app: Settings → About → Ad settings (personalized ads consent). In regions where consent is required, you can change your choice here at any time. Elsewhere the app tells you it is not needed; please use your phone settings below.
- Android: Settings → Privacy (or Google) → Ads → Delete or reset advertising ID
- iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → turn off Reptory
- How Google uses data from apps that show its ads: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads; Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
5. International transfer
To show ads, the information in section 4 is transferred to Google LLC and may be processed in the United States and other countries where Google operates data centers. It is sent over the internet (encrypted) each time an ad is shown, and kept according to Google’s Privacy Policy. To limit this, turn off personalized ads as described in section 4, or stop using or uninstall the app.
6. Backups and CSV export
- Backup (Settings → Backup & restore): the app creates a
.rcbackupfile containing your records (and, if you choose, photos) and opens your phone’s share sheet. The file is saved or sent only to the destination you pick (for example your phone’s files, a cloud drive, or email). It is never sent to us. - CSV export: creates a spreadsheet of your records and opens the share sheet in the same way.
- Backup files are not encrypted. They contain your records and photos, so keep them somewhere safe and take care when sharing them. The service you choose to store them with (such as a cloud drive) applies its own policies.
- Just before a restore, the app keeps one “safety backup” of your current data on your phone for 7 days. You can delete it from the backup screen.
- If your phone’s own backup (Android device backup, iCloud Backup, etc.) is turned on, the operating system may back up the app’s data to your own Google or Apple account. This follows your phone settings; we have no access to those backups.
7. Retention and deletion
- Information in the app stays on your phone until you delete it or uninstall the app. Uninstalling the app deletes its data (records, photos, settings) from your phone. Backup and CSV files you created, and your phone’s own backups, must be deleted by you.
- We do not keep any app data, so there is nothing for us to delete.
- Animals and records you delete in the app are marked as deleted on your phone and permanently removed after 30 days.
8. Your rights
- Your app data is on your phone, so you can view, correct and delete it in the app at any time.
- For advertising data processed by Google, you can turn off personalized ads or delete/reset your advertising ID as described in section 4, and you can contact Google directly to access or delete data.
- For any other questions, contact us at the address below.
9. Children
The app is not directed at children (under 14 in Korea, under 13 in the United States, or the equivalent age in your country), and we do not collect children’s personal information. The app sends no information to us; advertising-related information is processed by Google as described in section 4.
10. Security
- We run no servers, so we do not collect or store your records.
- App data is kept in app-private storage that the operating system protects from other apps.
- Advertising traffic is encrypted (TLS).
